Business Research International, Inc, an Ohio corporation, became a non profit corporation as of September 2026. Thank you to the Ohio Secretary of State for helping us convert to a non profit in order to be eligible for grants.
Why did Business Research International, dba Bizresearch, make this decision? It's personal, which is often how leaders shape their mission, objectives and determine what is needed.
In November of 2024, a series of crises, grief, spiritual journey, two parents passing, and physical phenomenon brought me, Laura M. Thieme, to an unexpected situation. I became aware of so much more about the past 18+ years, that I became unable to earn a full-time salary for an extended period of time. Moms, caregivers, grandparents should be paid full-time salaries plus overtime, just for taking care of their families. Until that happens in legislation, I have realized the need for grants to provide much needed resources that don't exist, or easily exist within walking or bicycling or a short driving distance of Orange County, CA, Tallahassee, Florida, and Columbus, Ohio. These are the immediate requirements for the following resources to help moms, independently living teens, and or young women, who have survived some form of grief, foster care, independent living, displacement, family crisis, dependency court case, or have been placed in a difficult situation due to fertility, and decisions made by adults. Assistance with legal ID, is sometimes needed, due to fertility decisions made by adults, if twins, triplets or multiples were conceived as a result of fertility treatments, or scientific treatments, or miracles not otherwise fully understood.
2) Gas money for local and travel requirements as needed;
3) Help with obtaining low cost automotive loans for $100 per month; cars would be a loan, not a lease within 2018-2024; Hybrids are encouraged, gasoline may be required if hybrids are not reasonably affordable;
4) Automotive maintenance requirements for oil changes, and basic updates within $100-$250 every six months;
5) EMT certifications, or another first responder certification, or ultrasound technician, or radiologist certification, GED certifications;
6) DNA and related certifications;
7) Coordination with law enforcement, social services agencies if the local agency is pro-family, pro assistance towards moms, young women and discourages or prohibits any kind of trafficking, arranged marriages, or trades.
8) Legal assistance for identification requirements and anything else needed to lessen the trauma of what these young women have experienced.
I have created the first grant proposal for $1.75MM for 25 participants to take part in a program. It will include a salary for me and up to five young women who have been through what I've described above, in either Orange County, CA, Columbus, Ohio, another area of California, Ohio, Florida, or Tennessee. I will continuously fundraise, to hopefully surpass this goal. However, additional part-time employees or 1099 contractors can also assist with our fundraising goals and mission.
Rapid rehousing programs exist for individuals w ho have become displaced for whatever reason, however, long-term leases and requirements for personal guarantors, and inability to work a full-time position while going through a crisis, keeps women, independent teens and moms from being able to stabilize.
